![]() For me, I have too many better games that will also infuriate me and make mothers walking past my house cover their children's ears at all the obscenities this game illicits. If you can get past that, it's charming and calm and entertaining. I Am Fish might be for you if you like seemingly simple games that are needlessly frustrating. Oh and the graphical stutters as it load game resources in the background is jarring and not hardware related it's bad programming. It doesn't even really live up to the potential more physics puzzles or free exploration would allow. But it loses a little in the execution and a LOT in level design. The premise and presentation and ideas aren't bad. See that empty small cardboard box? Immovable! See that 10 foot metal stepladder laying on the ground, OF COURSE you can push that! you might think you can play with physics in this to explore and manipulate levels. And it's splitsville for you two.Īnd the physics. Barnardshire General Hospital is the 3rd level in the game, where you play as the piranha. It is a charming, physics-based adventure starring four intrepid fish friends, forcibly separated from their home in a pet shop fish tank. The seagull level will make you swear so loudly that your neighbor thinks you're arguing with your imaginary girlfriend. I am Fish is a game similar to I am Bread and is the sequel to I am Bread from Bossa Studios. ![]() cool until you realize that jumping out of the water while moving is a crap shoot and you'll just as likely flop out of the water for no reason or bump the edge, or fly out of control. Adorable And its a bit of a rush, honestly. Seems fun at first until the game quickly makes you hate them due to level design. The puffer fish is simply delightful, able to balloon up into a prickly sphere, then roll and bounce across the land between the water. it feels annoying.Įvery game mechanic follows the same pattern. It's just not lenient enough to feel fun. You'll often almost make a jump but, just kidding, half an inch too short. ![]() You will often run out of air mere moments before touching water again. The mechanics work fine but these obstacles are designed with extremely stringent requirements. Then you start running into situations where the goal is obvious but getting to it is a chore because you have to be precise on the controls, or do it well enough to make the distance you need and not run out of air at the same time. If you're into repeatability maybe that helps. Sure hope you don't care for collectibles or mind missing them because before you know its there if youve gone the wrong way you cant get back to it. Levels are very linear (not a huge problem). After a few levels it really starts to fall apart. The physics make sense, it's not unnatural or arbitrary. you're a small fish pushing on the inside of a bowl or container to make it move. Controls don't seem as bad as everyone says.
